TextExpander Example - Git Log Shortcut

I am always looking to save time wherever I can. Its just my nature. I use cheatsheet to help me learn keyboard shortcuts. I use automation software to help with routine tasks. I even write some applescript if the need arises. All these types of things help me get stuff done. One of the other ways I get stuff done is to use TextExpander for text expansion.

What is text expansion you ask? Good question! Here is an example of a command I might type a lot:

git log --graph --decorate --pretty=oneline --abbrev-commit --color

It produces output like this:

It sure would be nice if we could just type a shortcut “;glog” and have it expand into the actual command we need. That is precisely how TextExpander helps us. It runs in the background and anytime I type “;glog” in a supported application (basically everything), the text gets expanded to:

git log --graph --decorate --pretty=oneline --abbrev-commit --color

Go get it

I hope this helps.
